MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIRMAN
What is a trillion? Until recently, we might have thought it was a pre-historic monster, or something from outer space.
Since coming into power, the Obama Administration has been tossing the word around in casual conversation to downplay its real significance. The word "trillion" has been interjected into our vocabulary by our new U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who tries to make it appear as though nothing has changed. For years, we Americans have only reached as high as millions or billions in our thinking. We have been brainwashed into believing that anything is acceptable, if the powers that be say so.
The Greater Bluffton Republican Club held a meeting on last week at Bluffton BBQ. Author Marvin Rogers, was the special guest speaker. "How could the Party of abolition - the Party of Abraham Lincoln - become the Party of scorn in the eyes of the vast majority of African Americans? How did the Republican Party lose its black soul?" he asked the packed room of wide-eyed, captivated, margarita-sipping listeners. SILENCE MAKES THE LOUDEST SOUND is the title of his book and silence embraced the quaint eatery as Mr. Rogers spoke about his life, his upbringing in a predominantly African-American neighborhood, his family, his freestyle rap, his work as a Spanish speaking missionary in Mexico and Nicaragua, his job with Congressman Bob Inglis, his political career and how he came to identify with the Republican Party at a very young age. Afterwards, he answered questions.
Hilton Head Signs and Sgt. White's Diner in Beaufort were eager to show our Congressman their places of business and put him to work. Congressman Joe Wilson always comes to Beaufort County to visit, listen to our concerns and help when he can. He is not the type of politician who only comes around during an election year. He maintains a local constituent service center here and help can be obtained by visiting the Lowcountry Office at 903 Port Republic Street, Beaufort, SC 29902 or calling Cris Steele or Carl Wedler at 843-521-2530. Senator Strom Thurmond -1968 Viewpoint Press 185 pages

Have you ever picked up a book with the preamble of the US Constitution on the cover written by Senator Strom Thurmond in 1968 and thought this book must be worth reading? I found The Faith We Have Not Kept and wish to write you a summary of a book that that has not lost its original conservative luster. The book begins with a concise summary of the achievements of Senator Thurmond. It is amazing that one human could accomplish so much and we in hindsight know he had near 40 additional years of national service.

In a glaring indication of how strong their standing is within the local party, Congressman Joe Wilson and Senator Jim DeMint easily won the straw poll at May's Executive Committee Meeting of the Beaufort County Republican Party.
Congressman Joe Wilson is far and away the most frequent visitor to Beaufort County on the National scene even during non-election years and is a widely anticipated speaker at club and party meetings. A surprise visit at last month's Beaufort Area Republican Club (BARC) meeting was a pleasure and delight to everyone in attendance. "I am grateful for the strong grassroots support of so many people who share my beliefs in less government and expanded freedom," Wilson said. "People are standing with me because they understand expansion of government by the liberals in Washington is creating larger deficits, which threaten the economic stability of our country."
The other results of the straw poll are as follows:
Do you think that illegal aliens who are good citizens, but have purposely overstayed their visa, should be deported if they face death or torture in their native country?
