The Issue: Fiscal responsibility and the importance of a balanced budget

Resolution:
Whereas, Governor Mark Sanford has consistently and unswervingly advocated for a decrease in government spending and lower taxes; and

Whereas, due to his leadership, cuts in spending have saved taxpayers millions of dollars; and

Whereas, the proposed budget was developed by working with state employees, boards and taxpayers in an effort to cut all spending and based on that effort, this year's budget has the potential of saving approximately $267 million concurrently protecting education, law enforcement and healthcare; and

Whereas, Governor Mark Sanford is commonly criticized for his harsh fountain pen and steadfast attitude; and

Whereas, the Beaufort County Republican Party wants Governor Mark Sanford to know that he is
appreciated, valued and respected.

IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Beaufort County Republican Party commends
Governor Mark Sanford and fully supports and urges passage of the proposed
2009-2010 Executive Budget and spending plan.
